How to Adopt: Pet Rescue Network

If  interested in adopting a PRN pet, all prospective families are required to complete the cat adoption form , the dog adoption form, or the bird adoption form. Submission of an online application does not in any way obligate you to adopt; it does provide our adoption counselors with helpful information  for the basis of an interview / discussion which will follow.

When approved as an adoptive family, you will be required to sign the  appropriate  adoption agreement / disclosure statement.

If attending a
scheduled adoption event,  application forms are available and can be filled out in person. Applications may also be completed and  submitted online.

After forms are received, an adoption advisor will make contact  for an  interview.  Applicants are often requested to participate in a home visit. Reference checks with veterinarians are conducted. PRN available animals  are not placed on a first come first serve basis. Instead, the adoption committee tries to assess each individual animal's needs and carefully screen applicants. The goal is to ensure that each animal is placed in the most compatible home, resulting hopefully in a permanent and successful placement for both people and pets.  PRN  reserves the right to refuse any application.
Fees are payable at the time of adoption. Payments accepted include cash, check, or credit card. Online payment may be made through PayPal after approval of adoption. Adoption fees may occasionally vary,  based on the costs of incurred medical fees.  Fees are used to defray the costs of spays, neuters, vaccinations, other vet services, food and foster supplies. Additional kitten and puppy shots, including rabies,  become the responsibility of the new owner upon adoption.

Bird adoption fees will vary, depending on the type of bird and the supplies which will accompany it upon placement (cage, toys, treats, etc). The adoption fee for each bird can be found on it's individual website page.

Dog adoption fees may depend on the specific dog.. As a general guideline, the fees for small dogs and puppies 4 months & under start at $225; Purebred dog fees start at $250; adult mix breed dogs fees start at $175.  All dogs are current on shots including, rabies, DHLPP and bordetella.  Each has been tested for heartworms and currently on heartworm preventative.  Puppies receive DHLPP’s and wormings as appropriate for age.  The adoption fee covers the cost of spaying or neutering as well as microchipping.

Cat adoption fees start at $75.00.
Cats have tested negative for FeLuk and FIV.  Adult cats have rabies and FVCRP vaccinations, and have been spayed or neutered.  Kittens receive FVCRP vaccinations and wormings as age appropriate.  The adoption fee covers the cost of spaying or neutering, as well as microchipping.
